Frank Edward Kidd, Sr.

Frank Edward Kidd, Sr., 93, of Roanoke Rapids, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Kidd was born in Brunswick County, VA, the son of the late Walter L. Kidd and Pannie Hall Kidd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nowell Kidd; two sons, William Eugene Kidd and James Lewis Kidd; his stepmother, Mattie Kidd; four sisters, Alma Carroll, Gracie Salmon, Margaret Barnes and Clara Lynch; and seven brothers, Rufus Kidd, Eddie Kidd, Emmett Kidd, Walter Kidd and Warren Kidd.

Frank was retired from Champion International Paper Co. as the superintendent of the wood yard. Mr. Kidd proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII.

He is survived by his son, Frank Kidd, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Wilson; a daughter-in-law, Sissie K. Kidd, of Roanoke Rapids; seven grandchildren, Tobi Nestor, Jennifer Brugos, Bill Kidd, Kevin Kidd, Jami White, David Tripp, and Mary Beth Tripp; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifton Kidd and Sterling Kidd; and several nieces and nephews.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with military and Masonic rites. Minister Randy Martin will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Halifax Regional Medical Center Foundation, 250 Smith Church Rd, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

The family would like to give a very special thank you to the entire staff on the 3rd Floor at HRMC for all their love and care shown to Mr. Kidd and his family.
